John Farnsworth Sextet
Tenor saxophonist John Farnsworth has a deeply resonant sound and no-nonsense melodicism that places him squarely in the hard bop tradition. His irrepressible jazz sextet features his robust tenor in a spirited front line with trumpeter Duane Eubanks and trombonist Ku-umba Frank Lacy. The sextet also features a stellar rhythm section featuring pianist Rick Germanson, bassist James Cammack, and drummer Joe Farnsworth, his younger brother. A longtime Smoke favorite, Farnsworth has worked with many important artists over the years including Junior Cook, Cecil Payne, Eddie Henderson, and Curtis Fuller.
