New York Times Reporter Maureen Farrell on How WeWork Became "WeCrashed"
As a reporter at The Wall Street Journal, Maureen Farrell chronicled the meteoric rise and fall of WeWork on the front pages of the influential newspaper. Later, she and her colleague Eliot Brown turned that reporting into the bestselling book, The Cult of We, which went on to be named as one of the best books of 2021 by NPR, Fortune, and The Financial Times.
The story that Maureen lived and uncovered has since been dramatized in the popular Apple TV+ series WeCrashed, starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway.
In this conversation with Maureen, now a Times reporter, we'll discuss what it was like to document the saga of WeWork and how it feels to see her reporting acted out by Hollywood stars.
