TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint
Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint is a celebration of North Brooklyn's local flavor, benefitting the Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center. Now in its 10th year (!), the block party style tasting event will return to the scenic Williamsburg waterfront, bringing the neighborhood's top restaurants, bars and independent merchants together with over 2,000 hungry participants to eat and drink for a great cause. On the 15th, guests can enjoy tastes from over 40 neighborhood restaurants, bars, breweries, and wineries, including exciting newcomers such as Baba's Pierogies, Dolly's Swing and Dive, Ela Taverna, Keg & Lantern Brewing Company and Silver Light Tavern. The full lineup features Tacocina, Lighthouse, Leuca at The William Vale Hotel, VSPOT, Zona Rosa, The Saint Austere, Barano, Le Gamin, Brooklyn Label, Seven Seeds at The Williamsburg Hotel, Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Winery, Greenpoint Beer, Midnights, Pine Box Rock Shop, Keg & Lantern Brooklyn and My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, and more (all viewable here) New this year, in an effort to eliminate as much unnecessary waste as possible and near its goal of becoming a zero-waste event, all guests will receive a reusable tasting glass from Cup Zero and use plates donated by 100 Bio, the world's first 100% compostable foam foodware, in an effort to lessen the event's carbon footprint. There will also be a wide variety of entertainment and educational offerings for attendees of all ages. New activities this year include fun (and safe!) velcro archery tag from Area 53, vintage video games from Team 1 Up, a lounge area from Tito's Vodka and Jim Beam, and a beer garden from Blue Point Brewing Company. As in years past, the Greenpoint YMCA will offer face painting, arts and crafts, youth basketball, family zumba, yoga and more with opportunities to win a YMCA membership, and the St. Nicks Alliance will be bringing their BK Story Voyager mobile library. Proceeds from the event will once again go to benefit the Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center, located in the former Engine 212 Firehouse at 134 Wythe Avenue, which is working to re-open as a crucial hub for the local community to organize and gather. Over the past 10 years, the annual event has raised almost $1 million for the Firehouse project, which is now nearly fully funded and entering into the construction phase, with just $250,000 to go.Venue: East River State Park
