Simas & Amorim Duo: Exciting Brazilian Music on Piano and Guitar
Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
Join Luiz Simas (piano and vocals) and Wesley Amorim (guitars) for an evening of gorgeous, exciting, exhilarating music! The program will include music from the Duo's new CD "Deuce": Luiz's and Wesley's infectious original tunes as well as compositions by Radames Gnatalli, Egberto Gismonti and many other great Brazilian composers. It will feature also new arrangements of a Lennon/McCartney favorite, and of the Agustín Barrios virtuosic piece "Las Abejas". BIOS: Rio-born Brazilian jazz composer/singer/pianist Luiz Simas is a genuine Carioca! A New Yorker since '89, he has led original groups in jazz festivals and clubs in the US, in Europe and in Brazil. Luiz' voice and music have warmed major venues including Birdland, the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Bargemusic. His CDs include Cafune, Impromptu, Luiz Simas Live in NYC, New Chorinhos from Brazil, Recipe for Rhythm, Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest) Piano Suite and Transparências
