NYC Concerts This Month: Guided by Voices at Industry City
An indie act you need to know, Guided by Voices has been playing lo-fi atmospheric rock since the 80s. NYC Concerts This Month: Broadway Sings Alanis Morissette at Highline Ballroom
Another concert you outta know is Broadway Sings Alanis Morissette on August 20. Part of the Broadway Sings series, in which an array of Broadway stars sing popular songs, performers at this concert will include Dear Evan Hansen’s Alex Boniello, Kinky Boots’ David Cook, and Fun Home’s Lauren Patten. NYC Concerts This Month: Rooftop Concerts at Pier 17
Michael McDonald
Pier 17 is part of downtown’s South Street Seaport, and they are hosting rooftop concerts on the pier all summer. Five-time Grammy Award winner and former Doobie Brothers member Michael McDonald will perform on Tuesday, August 21. August weather is dream pop weather. That’s why you should go hear Beach House, a dream pop duo, bringing their synths to United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights. NYC Concerts This Month: Sweet Tea Trio & Bluebird Cafe Songwriters at Opry City Stage
Sweet Tea Trio
Located in Times Square, Opry City Stage brings a Southern sound to the big city. Their two stages host live musical acts nightly, and you can also enjoy Nashville hot chicken and gumbo for dinner while you listen to the music. Nashville-based up-and-comers the Sweet Tea Trio play Opry City Stage on August 22 and 23. This group of young women has opened for Kid Rock, Bon Jovi, and Alabama. Friday, August 24, the Bluebird Cafe Songwriter Series continues at Opry City Stages. Notable NYC Concerts in August: Drake & Migos at Madison Sq. Garden & Barclays Center
Drake, one of the biggest acts in the world, has teamed with the group Migos for his Aubrey and the Three Migos tour.
