Established in 1910 by Carlo Guastaffero, the bakery switched hands to Bartolo Valastro Sr. in 1964. After the tragic passing of Mr. Valastro, the now head of the family, Mary Valastro, and her children Grace, Madalena, Mary, Lisa and star of Cake Boss Bartolo Jr. “Buddy” Valastro, took over and expanded the business. It is now a staple of New York City foodies and a popular tourist attraction, not just because of its celebrity association, but because the treats are just that good.
Every dessert known to man and some once only known to aliens is here: cannolis, lobster tails, crumb cake, pound cake, rugelachs, brownies, cupcakes, strawberry cheesecake (the personal favorite of Buddy’s)...The list is almost never-ending.
