Composer Viktor Ullmann is one of the most notable of the artists who continued to compose while entrapped in Nazi concentration camps. Although many manuscripts were undoubtedly destroyed as their creators met an untimely fate, some were smuggled out or hidden. Ullmann wrote and premiered music while imprisoned in the Nazi concentration camp Terezin (Theresienstadt) before he was ultimately murdered in a gas chamber at Auschwitz. Pianofest in the Hamptons will present the New York premiere of one of Viktor Ullmann's works written in the concentration camp, The Tale of the Love and Death of Cornet Christopher Rilke for Narrator and Piano, on Wednesday, April 17, at the Louis K. He is recognized as a genius in the art of dynamic, live performance and as a versatile bass guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer of exceptional artistic standards. He sang in his church's choir, won a statewide musical rhythm competition at age eight and studied the violin and the bass guitar. She will also share exciting discoveries uncovered in her research on the film such as the film's surprising intersections with Hollywood and the Hong Kong New Wave. The presentation will include short film clips containing rare footage of NYC's Chinatown and Chinese American life at mid-century. Danielle Seid is an assistant professor of English at Baruch College, CUNY. Her varied interests in media include film and TV history, racial performance, documentary film, and celebrity culture. Currently she is working on a book that examines the forgotten histories of Asian American women on US network television as media artifacts of US empire in Asia and the Pacific. Crack the Sky is an American progressive rock band formed in Weirton, West Virginia. In keeping with these traditions, Equinox presents a set of multimedia artists exploring concepts and themes related to renewal, rebirth, and regeneration all while calling attention to art’s capacity to serve as a restorative, rejuvenating force in the wake of life’s many cycles. The exhibition title also references the historic milestone in the life of the gallery: its recent move and expansion to 7 Franklin Place. As such, the show marks a new beginning for the gallery and its network of artists, collectors, and patrons. The show will open on Thursday, April 4th with a public reception from 6-9pm. Explore the World of Colors - Color Factory

Welcome to Color Factory: a collaboratively-produced art experience in New York City. This multisensory exhibit, inspired by the colors of the city, guides visitors through 16 participatory installations, designed to awaken audiences to the brilliant, everyday presence of color. Featured collaborators include: Lakwena Maciver, Mmuseumm, Emmanuelle Moureaux, Jason Polan, Tamara Shopsin, Kassia St Clair, Molly Young, Kendra Dandy, James Rosa/LAND Gallery, 826NYC, Christine Wong Yap, Rebecca Wright, Randi Brookman Harris, Leah Rosenberg, Erin Jang, and Oh Happy Day. Highlights include ombré floating balloons with wishes for the world written by students at 826NYC, a walkable infographic leading you to your "secret color", a palette of colorful treats featuring a custom color ice cream scoop, a unique activity on color and human connection, a luminous dance floor, and Color Factory's signature ball room.
