Dance aficionados make note: Another New York City Ballet principal ballerina is coming to Broadway – briefly. Tiler Peck is stepping in for NYCB principal Megan Fairchild -- Peck’s sister-in-law, incidentally -- while she takes a well-earned vacation from her starring role of Ivy Smith, a.k.a. the elusive “Miss Turnstile” sought by love-struck sailor Gabey, in the current Broadway revival of On The Town.
The perfect musical, should you have a desire to wrap yourself in classical dance technique in a slightly less highbrow setting, On The Town opened to rave reviews when it debuted last October at Broadway’s vast Lyric Theatre. Featuring a vibrant score – Leonard Bernstein wrote the music while the book and lyrics were penned by Betty Comden and Adolph Green –this may well be the most wholesome and multi-generation-friendly show on the Great White Way.
To catch Ms. Peck’s limited – i.e., six performance run – here are the dates and she’ll be performing: March 3rd at 7pm, March 4th at 2pm and 8pm, March 14th at 2pm and 8pm, and March 15th at 3pm.
And just in case you were wondering, this is not Peck’s Broadway debut: she appeared in The Music Man in 2000.
