21 and over AL-053 Chris Corsano & Bill Orcutt LP "Brace Up!" Brace Up! is the first ever studio release from the duo of Chris Corsano (drums) and Bill Orcutt (guitar). Recorded in Brussels at Les Ateliers Claus by Christophe Albertijn on March 19th and 20th, 2018. Stage dive photograph by Jason Penner "Over the past six years or so, drummer Chris Corsano has proven to be one of Bill Orcutt's most reliably flexible collusionists. Regardless of whether Bill is cluster-busting electric guitar strings, weaseling around with cracked electronics, or playing relatively spacious free-rock, Corsano is able to provide the proper base for his aural sculpting. A lot of Orcutt's instrumental work has traditionally felt hermetic even though he's exploring caverns of explosive ecstasy.

The Chats - Brooklyn Bowl
July 17, 2019 - Brooklyn

The Chats are three dropkick drongos from the Sunshine Coast of Australia, also the home of the Crocodile Hunter (RIP). Forming in 2016 in their mates bong shed, the boys quickly came up with a set of catchy pub punk anthems. 'Smoko' came first, and mayhem followed. Now reaching over 5.5 million views, the tune has lead to a whirlwind touring schedule of 2018. First, a mammoth tour of over 40 dates with drunken uncles and godfaters of grunge, the Cosmic Psychos, followed not long after with a personal request by Josh Homme to open for the Queens of the Stoneage across Australia. According to Homme, he was sent the bands video from Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, and watched it a ton of times with Iggy Pop. Life is strange. The Chats announced their debut tour in the motherland of the UK in October, which much to the bands shock, all sold out in a day. Agents scrambled to move all shows to larger venues, seeing the boys playing sold shows in infamous rooms such as the Electric Ballroom in London, Academy 2 in Manchester and Institute 2 in Birmingham. Not bad for a couple of 19 year olds who've never been outside of Australia before.

The Gotobeds - Union Pool
July 17, 2019 - Brooklyn

21 and over Hey, what's this? Well that, my friend, is the newest album from The Gotobeds, entitled Blood // Sugar // Secs // Traffic. It's their second full-length LP and their first for Sub Pop. Whoa, whoa, please slow down. I'm already completely lost. What you just said sounded like a stream of complete gibberish. Okay, I'll lay it out for you and if you have any questions could you yell them at me? SOUNDS GOOD. The Gotobeds formed vaguely around 2009 in Pittsburgh and play a mutant strain of rock music that is often filed under punk, indie rock, or 99-cent discount bin. WAIT, THE GOTOBEDS? I HEARD THEY WERE KNUCKLEHEADS! Only if the knuckle is the part of the human body that contains the brains. Much like their previous releases on underground stalwart labels like Mind Cure and 12XU, this new album artfully slips intelligence and experimentation into a dying art form. It's a harder feat than you'd think.

Rest assured, when the Evans brothers first brought Kraz by their Woodstock studio, there was plenty of old vinyl spread out on the floor.

Thea Little - National Sawdust
July 19, 2019 - Brooklyn

Choreographer and composer Thea Little — whose work lives at the intersection of performance art, dance-theater, and experimental music — has presented her work across the US and Europe. Returning to her New York roots, she presents Honest Process, in which a wash of abstract gestures, vocals, and facial expressions form an internal language aimed at overcoming ego, commercialism, and narcissism, in favor of vulnerability and self-knowledge. Little performs alongside Katie Norton-Bliss and Lea Torelli in this blissfully interdisciplinary program. Sometimes serious, sometimes playful, Honest Process explores a relation to healing and all that healing can look and feel like. The work puts an emphasis on listening to one another, being present in the moment, and being patient with time and space, and offers a healthy dose of over-the-top improvisation, competition, and humor.
