Ice Cream Fun Run in NYC

Summer is here. Except for a few thunderstorms and a bit of rain, the temperatures are high, and it looks like it is staying that way. If you are not used to the New York temperatures (no one really gets used to it), it is a good idea to cool down from time to time. And what better way to cool down than going for an ice cream run. Here are some favorite spots.

1. Milk & Cream Cereal Bar

Milk & Cream Cereal Bar

If you like ice cream and cereal, then you’ll love this place. Milk & Cream Cereal Bar in Little Italy combines the two treats and serves you one of the best desserts you’ve ever had, hands down. The store combines the people’s favorites and mixes ice cream with your chosen toppings. Also, if you’re having a hard time deciding which toppings to go with what ice cream, they also have specials that make it easier to choose! The Cookie Crisp Carnival is to die for. milkandcreambar.com.

2. Big Gay Ice Cream Shop

While I love to dabble with different types of ice cream brands, I always come running back to Big Gay Ice Cream. If you haven’t been, and this is your first time to New York, do yourself a favor and head on over to one of their multiple locations throughout the city. There is usually a line, but you know what they say; Good things come to those who wait. I recommend getting The Salty Pimp (yes, it’s an ice cream). biggayicecream.com

3. Black Tap

This place is a must for those with a sweet tooth. You don’t go to Black Tap for a simple little ice cream cone. No, no. You go to Black Tap for a huge, eye-watering milkshake. Alright, so it’s not technically just ice cream. And yes, you can get a classic shake instead of an insane one. But why would you when you can have a shake that is so pretty you hardly want to eat it? I recommend the Cotton Candy Strawberry Shake. Google it, and you’ll know why. P.S. Don’t eat before Black Tap. It’s a thing. blacktapnyc.com

4. Van Leeuwen

If you’re looking for the more classical approach to ice cream, just a couple of scoops of ice cream on a cone without cookies or cotton candy dripping down your hand, check out Van Leeuwen. Not only does Van Leeuwen’s artisan and vegan ice cream have tons of different flavors for you to try out, but you’ll also find them in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Oh, you’ll probably be able to catch a glimpse of one of their trucks running around New York if you pay attention. vanleeuwenicecream.com

5. Random ice cream trucks on the street

Last but not least, a shout out to the random ice cream trucks on the street. If you’re just visiting New York for the first time, there is plenty to see and not enough time. We get it. So in addition to listing a couple of great places for a sit down while having an ice cream, grabbing an ice cream from one of the ice cream trucks passing by is also a superb idea. Perfect treat on a busy day of sightseeing!
