Bright Colors and Bold Patterns Returns to NYC!

Last December, the one-man show Bright Colors and Bold Patterns took the theatre world by storm in its New York debut at the Barrow Street Theatre. Now, the acclaimed production will return to the New York stage once again for a limited run at the Soho Playhouse.

Written and performed by Drew Droege, Bright Colors and Bold Patterns takes place the night before the Palm Springs wedding of Josh and Brennan, as the couple’s drunken friend Gerry storms in to protest the wedding invitation’s request to “Please refrain from wearing bright colors or bold patterns.”

“In the struggle for equality, what do we really want? What do we lose? And is there any cocaine left?” the show’s official description asks.

After making its initial debut at the VS Theater in Los Angeles, Bright Colors and Bold Patterns became a New York Times Critics Pick during its initial New York City run. Times critic Charles Isherwood praised the show as “hilarious,” adding that Droege took on the role of Gerry with “devastatingly funny panache.”

Droege, a comedian whose television credits include Drunk History, Bob’s Burgers, and the upcoming TV reboot of Heathers, is perhaps best known for his internet videos parodying It Girl Chloe? Sevigny. The show’s strong comedy pedigree also extends offstage to director Michael Urie, who’s best known for his acting work in such TV and stage productions as Ugly Betty and his own celebrated one-man show, Buyer and Cellar.

Bright Colors and Bold Patterns will play at the Soho Playhouse from November 12–January 7. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit BrightColorsandBoldPatterns.com.
