13-06-2018 12:00:00 13-06-2018 12:00:00 America/New_York The Gnome | 7:30 PM The Gnome invokes the figure of the gnome as an 'earth elemental' creature with whom, according to folklore, it's very important to be on good terms. The performance riffs on this figure partly as a response to current earthy and dense astrological transits. The premise: a gnome is stuck in the role of threshold guardian and on a quest to liberate themselves, asking the cosmos how we can liberate our inner threshold guardians when they feel stuck. "In The Gnome, Nekyia Theatre (named after rites that summon dead from the underworld) thoroughly dredges the cultural unconscious of the present and near future. From seasonal affective disorder and sweet-if- sadomasochistic sex to giant misplaced Instagram hashtags glowing from the Chthonic depths, familiar themes find uncanny resonances through gestures carefully timed to straddle the tricky divide between charm and terrifying entropy." –Anne Meletious, Gnostic Tapes writer http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=311576 Dixon Place Dixon Place
