19-03-2019 12:00:00 19-03-2019 12:00:00 America/New_York New Roadmaps for Asia: The 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific' and the 'Quad' | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm The last two years have seen a rise in uncertainty and anxiety in much of Asia, as long-standing assumptions about regional security have been called into question. Meanwhile, two ideas are gaining traction: the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" (FOIP) and the Quadrilateral Security Dialogues (the "Quad") — made up of Australia, India, Japan, and the U.S. Both ideas are generally credited to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, with the Quad first raised in his vision for Japan in 2006, and the FOIP first used in his speech to the Indian parliament in 2007. Both ideas may alter the geopolitical order of the region, and shape the nature of U.S. engagement with more than half the world's population. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=356408 Asia Society and Museum Asia Society and Museum
