After compelling contributions to ECM discs by David Torn and Michael Formanek, Tim Berne made his ECM debut in 2011 with Snakeoil. This recording introduced a "chamber–like group" (in Berne's words) that packs some impressive firepower, with Berne's alto teamed with Oscar Noriega's earthy clarinets, Matt Mitchell's cryptic piano, and Ches Smith's tone–conscious drums, tympani, gongs and congas. Tim comes to Jazz Standard to celebrate the band's highly anticipated third ECM release You've Been Watching Me, which augments the band with guitarist Ryan Ferriera. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=244942 Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard
