NYC Steak Destination: Angus Club Steakhouse
Come over to Midtown East for some of the best steak of your life. At Angus Club Steakhouse, you’ll find beautiful cuts of beef, whether you’re craving ribeye, porterhouse, or even lamb chops. The meat is butchered on the premises and dry-aged for maximum flavor. If red meat’s not your thing, the menu expands to super-fresh seafood and entree salads.
THE LOOK. Angus Club’s elegant dining rooms feature art deco-inspired design. The interiors have big city sophistication, although the friendly staff ensures you’ll find plenty of charm. Intimate and romantic evenings are easy to come by here. Angus also has two floor’s worth of seating and can be reserved for private parties in individual dining rooms or across an entire floor, depending on the size of your group.
THE TURF. Chef Edward Avdyli hand selects the beef for Angus Club’s outstanding steaks. Using only USDA Prime, cuts like filet mignon, prime rib, and the supreme 35-day dry-aged porterhouse fall apart in your mouth. (In other words, don’t pour on the steak sauce just yet.) Every steak comes with creamy whipped mashed potatoes and the vegetable du jour. (Creamed spinach is an excellent, and popular, side.)
THE SURF. Fresh seafood is prepared with the same care that goes into the beef; crab cake, shrimp cocktail, and crispy calamari make scrumptious appetizers. For a soup option, go with the creamy lobster bisque. The pièce de résistance? Truffle macaroni and cheese with a lobster add-on is as richly memorable as it sounds.
LUNCH. For a midday treat, come to Angus Club for their prix fixe lunch, which comes with an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Standouts include the French onion soup and Canadian bacon appetizers. In addition to the fabulous rib-eye, entree selections include delectable Norwegian salmon. For dessert, do as the locals: we recommend the New York cheesecake.
HAPPY HOUR. On weekdays from 4 to 7pm, head to Angus for dollar oysters and half-off beer, wine, and cocktails. Come grab an early-evening martini or a Ferrari-Carano Cabernet Sauvignon, and settle in. (If the scent of steak makes you stay for dinner, don’t say we didn’t warn you.)
