While I had originally planned to make a fairly bright little story, it changed while I was working on it and came out very dark." The story concerns a very average suburban office worker, with a wife and two very un-average sons, who is unable to stand up to his boss.

In FRACTIONS I, four video monitors share the screen space with the dancers, displaying close-ups of the performers throughout the dance. The images mediated by the monitors share the same "tense" as the live dancers, calling attention to the limited frame imposed by video recording, and provoking the boundaries of perception. To create CHANNELS/INSERTS, Cunningham and Atlas divided the Company's Westbeth studio into sixteen possible areas for dancing and used chance methods based on the I Ching to determine the order in which these spaces would be used, the number of dancers to be seen, and the events that would occur in each space. Atlas employed cross-cutting and animated mattes or wipes to indicate a simultaneity of dance events occurring in different spaces, as well as to allow for diversity in the continuity of the image.

It is a virtuoso exercise representing the expressiveness of the silent film as it neared its end.

Her latest and in some ways most ambitious film is a typically meditative but larger scale investigation of the city of Buffalo, NY.

Decades before movies had a rating system, they had censors. Dating back to the silent era, seven states and dozens of cities across the United States empowered government-employed censors to cut films prior to their exhibition ? or even ban them outright. Citing unacceptable violence, language, and sexuality, censors literally shaped the moving images audiences in their regions could access?often motivated by their own beliefs, prejudices, and strong personalities. A love letter to the movies, Sickies Making Films looks at our urge to censor films and asks why? We find reasons both absurd and surprisingly understandable. Using the Maryland Board of Censors (1916-1981) as a lens, as well as archival materials, classic film segments, and interviews with filmmakers and exhibitors who were subjected to censorship, this documentary examines the recurring problem of censorship in America.

Video installation. In his 1982 documentary Room 666, German director Wim Wenders asked the question "Is cinema a dead language, an art which is already in the process of decline?" to directors including Steven Spielberg, Michelangelo Antonioni, Jean-Luc Godard, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and others. Nearly 35 years later, the makers of Room H.264 invited filmmakers to answer the same question. Each filmmaker was recorded under specific conditions replicating those of the Wenders film: the subjects were left alone in a hotel room with a tripod mounted camera running for ten minutes. Room H.264: Astoria, NY, January 2018, projected on the main screen in the Video Screening Amphitheater, is a film created from footage captured at the Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City in January 2018.
