Just One Look: Songs of Linda Ronstadt at Green Room 42

I had the pleasure of seeing Linda Ronstadt perform LIVE, circa 1977, at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, former home of the U.S. Open tennis tournament. She was a musical goddess with a voice like an angel, distinctive in that she could sing in a wide range of musical forms including rock, country, Latin, even opera. For me, it was her pop and rock ballads like "Blue Bayou" and "Desperado" that charmed her way into my life.

Fast forward 42 years, and we get to relive for one night this ’70s icon in cabaret, concert, and recording artist Travis Moser’s Just One Look: The Songs of Linda Ronstadt.

Linda Ronstadt

Travis was smitten after hearing Linda’s 1989 Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind album.  He felt she was a fearless singer and is eager to have younger people learn about what made her so iconic in the ’70s. Linda herself stopped performing live in 2009, due to the ravishes of Parkinson’s disease, which she still bravely battles.

Linda’s career began as the lead singer of the trio the Stone Poneys from 1965-68, where she had her first hit "Different Drum," a cover of Mike Nesmith (The Monkees).  She then emerged as a solo artist with one hit after another.  In her 1971 band lineup were rock and roll legends Glenn Frey and Don Henley, who later that year would form The Eagles.  A recent CNN documentary on Linda debuted in the Tribeca Film Festival.

Why is this night something you just can’t miss? You will be treated to the Ronstadt classics “Just One Look," "I Don’t Know Much," "When Will I Be Loved,” and, of course,  “Blue Bayou” and “Desperado"—as well as some new arrangements.  You are just not going to get this elsewhere, so seize the night while you can.
