RUNHealthy: Yoga - New York Road Runners

RUNHealthy is a series of holistic exercise sessions aimed at helping to reduce injury and keep you running healthy. Free yoga and stretching sessions are each offered on a monthly basis. Join us on the second Sunday of each month for Yoga for Runners, led by instructors from Pure Yoga. Please bring your own yoga mat.

Kayak Polo - Brooklyn Bridge Park

We've got the equipment (kayaks, vests, helmets, paddles), you bring the body, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship (shorts/sandals, too). Your level of experience doesn't matter. We are limited to 15 participants per game, so reserve your spot for the game at 11 am. We'll put you in a team and give you a vest number on a first-come first-served basis. Dedicated players and volunteers, though, will end up being teachers to others. We focus on individual attention and kayak mentoring, and offer the best free kayak learning experience you can get in NYC. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to be donned with vest, helmet, paddle, and kayak.

Kids' Races - New York Road Runners
Through September 10, 2017 - New York

Give your children the experience of running at a New York Road Runners event with one of our kids' races. Open to all children ages 2-12, these events provide young athletes with opportunities to race kid-friendly distances with children from their age group. Beginning September 18, 2016, all kids' races are free. All participants should line up for their race at least 15 minutes prior to the start. Please note that parents/guardians of children ages 5 and older will not be permitted to enter the course during kids' races. All parents should meet their children after their races in the reunion area and must have the claim tag located on the bottom of their bib number. No child will be released to an adult without a claim tag. Islanders Children’s Foundation Golf Outing 2017 - Bethpage State Park Golf Course

This year’s event will once again take place at Bethpage State Park Golf Course, home of the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009. Registration and brunch will begin at 10AM and the shotgun start to the event will commence at noon. Participants will receive a barbeque lunch on the course and the event will conclude in the evening with a cocktail reception. The distribution of prizes from the day’s rounds will take place at the reception and attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on several unique Islanders experiences and memorabilia in the chance auctions. Citi 44 Million Yard Challenge - Union Square Northwest Plaza

In celebration of the global impact of the Presidents Cup, tournament officials and Presidents Cup Global Partner Citi announced the launch of the Citi 44 Million Yard Challenge that begins August 17,2017 and runs through the 2017 Presidents Cup. The Presidents Cup will be played September 26 – October 1 at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. As part of the challenge, golfers and participants will drive a golf ball the 43,825,760 yards it takes to circle the globe. In honor of the challenge, Citi is donating enough for No Kid Hungry to provide one million meals to kids in need. Sickle Cell Walk - Central Park

"If you can hear my voice, you can break…" Those words, spoken by beloved race announcer Kurt Steiner (1921-1993), encouraged countless race finishers to run their hearts out. Steiner was a founding member of NYRR and a competitive runner and race walker. Born in Austria, Steiner was a member of the French Foreign Legion who escaped from enemy captors. Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford was one of his soldiers in the U.S. Army. Steiner worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help stage the first five-borough New York City Marathon and assisted NYRR with race scoring, race applications, and media activities. Please note: NYRR cross country races do not count toward the 9+1 program.
