Serendipity Wishes Carnegie Hall a Very Happy 125th Birthday with an Exclusive Sundae

NYC confectionery Serendipity 3 wishes Carnegie Hall a happy 125th birthday with a limited-edition sundae. Violinist Gil Shaham and members of the National Youth Orchestra of the USA were on hand for the unveiling of the Carnegie Hall 125th Anniversary Sundae—a giant bow-tied birthday goblet filled with three scoops of Serendipity vanilla ice cream and overflowing with hot fudge and caramel sauce. It was topped with sea saltand a crescendo of whipped cream, magical candy musical notes, a solid milk chocolate violin, and a birthday candle. You don't need to practice, practice, practice to try some on your own: the sundae will be available at Serendipity 3 all through the month of October.

Carnegie Hall 125 serendipity III

Carnegie Hall opens its 2015–2016 125th anniversary season on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7pm, with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert. They will be performing the world premiere of Vivo by Magnus Lindberg, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall; Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2; and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Evgeny Kissin.

Highlights of Carnegie Hall's 125th anniversary season include violinist Gil Shaham returning to Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 8pm, playing Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with The Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

In addition, Mr. Shaham offers a modern-day vision of Bach’s always-daunting-to-perform complete Solo Violin Sonatas and Partitas, pairing them with original films by artist David Michalek, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project on Sunday, October 25 at 7pm. The concert, entitled Bach Six Solos, receives its New York premiere with this performance.
