Opera in New York City This Week
The Metropolitan Opera is world-class and world famous, and it's among the comprehensive opera listings you can find on City Guide's calendar. Mozart in the Jungle: Inside the Music - Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
February 11, 2018 - New York

Audiences are invited inside the world of Mozart in the Jungle, the Golden Globe Award-winning television series set in the orbit of the fictional New York Symphony. The Amazon series has featured performances by artists including Joshua Bell and Plácido Domingo, who sang on a raft in a Venetian canal with fictional opera diva "La Fiamma" (played by Monica Bellucci), and cameos by composers Nico Muhly and Caroline Shaw. At Works & Process, Shaw joins executive producer and series creator Paul Weitz, showrunner Will Graham, and creative consultant Elena Park for a program that takes the audience inside the music created for the show. The evening features performances of music by Shaw and Muhly, including a special presentation of the Amy Fisher aria by Metropolitan Opera soprano Susanna Phillips. Stream season four of Mozart in the Jungle February 16 on Amazon Prime Video. $45, $40 members and Friends of Works & Process. House seats may be available for $1,000+ Friends of Works & Process. All We Need is Love Cabaret for a Cause Benefiting Broadway Cares - Joe's Pub at The Public

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that songwriters Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond, along with a cast of exciting guest stars, will bring "The Crowd Goes Mild" to the historic stage on Monday, February 12 at 7pm. Fresh off of the premieres of their latest projects, the new musical Romantics Anonymous (Shakespeare's Globe) and the animated Disney TV series Vampirina, Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond welcome a cast of Broadway stars to share a wide array of selections from their songbook, ranging from the absurd to Michael Kooman (music) and Christopher Dimond (book & lyrics) received the 2013 Fred Ebb Award, a 2010 Jonathan Larson Grant, and are the first recipients of the Mary Rodgers/Lorenz Hart Award and the Samuel French Next Step Award.
