As temperatures continue to hover in the lower digits, we’re all focused on keeping warm. There’s no need to stay at home or tucked away at a hotel bar when New York City has so many cozy little hideaways to explore.

Drawing inspiration from the moga, Japan’s equivalent of the 1920s flappers, Bar Moga is a sultry Greenwich Village cocktail bar with an East-meets-West vibe. The space incorporates multiple partitions and dropped ceilings, which add shadows and mystery to the dimly-lit bar. Sensual images of mogas don the walls and vintage-style lighting, rich woods, and a fireplace bring warmth. info@barmoga.com, 128 W. Houston St., barmoga.com

Flûte

Flûte Bar & Lounge was unveiled more than two decades ago in a dark, romantic space that was once a notorious speakeasy. The decadent champagne bar offers an intimate nook where couples can sip bubbly in a lounge-like setting. It’s also a great destination for unwinding with friends. Beyond the menu of champagne and sparkling wine, Flûte boasts a full bar, a menu of specialty sparkling cocktails, and small plates. 205 W. 54th St., 212-265-5169, flutebar.com

The wine bar and kitchen Dianne & Elisabeth offers lots of ambiance via exposed brick walls, dimly lit lights, and minimalist wood furnishings. The flicker of candlelight adds a romantic flair. Nibble on cheese and charcuterie, indulge in local dishes such as Hudson Valley duck, or just unwind with a glass of wine and your ideal companion. 644 10th Ave., 212-247-3039, dianneandelisabeth.com

Left Bank

Since opening its doors in 2011, Left Bank has been a champion of uncomplicated elegance. Located in an elaborate landmarked building, this bistro drew inspiration from the West Village neighborhood it’s located in, but it’s also infused with a bit of European flair. From the expertly crafted food, wine, and cocktail menus to the large bay windows that offer street views, every design element of Left Bank has contributed to creating this ideal hideaway. The restaurant takes pride in only sourcing humanely raised meat and utilizes local ingredients. 117 Perry St., 212-727-1170, leftbanknewyork.com

The Lower East Side’s SakaMai is an izakaya (small dishes and snacks) and sake bar that is housed in a relaxed, intimate space. It is ideal for unwinding on a crisp winter night with a date or with a few friends. The dim lights, exposed brick walls, and cozy corner spaces such as the salon complete with a crackling fireplace set the scene. Privacy can easily be found at SakaMai’s booth spaces, which are embellished with ethereal curtains. 157 Ludlow St., 646-590-0684, sakamai.com
